FIELD OF THE INVENTION
[0001] The present invention relates to an infusion device for making an infused beverage such as coffee, tea, chocolate herbal tea, etc. starting from a capsule or pod containing an aromatic substance.
[0002] In particular, the present invention relates to an infusion device shaped to cooperate with a removable capsule-holder or partacialde or with removable cap or pod adapters.
TECHNIQUE NOTE
[0003] Infusion devices for known coffee machines generally comprise a first infusion element, usually called a female infuser, cup-shaped and comprising a cavity adapted to house an infusion capsule and / or pod, containing an aromatic essence, and a second element, normally referred to as a male infuser, for closing the aforementioned cavity to define an infusion chamber together with the first infusion element.
[0004] The capsule, containing the aromatic essence, is placed or transported inside the infusion chamber, so that the introduction of hot water under pressure inside the capsule and / or infusion pod realizes the extraction of the aromatic essence.
[0005] The brewing chamber is in communication with at least one outlet duct of the infused beverage, ending with a nozzle or exit hopper of the beverage.
[0006] Machines are known in which the first and the second infusion element are arranged substantially vertically and the infusion chamber is formed by the vertical translation of the second infusion element or of a portion thereof with respect to the first fixed infusion element.
[0007] Document US 3 260 190 describes such a machine.
[0008] The Applicant has observed that due to the predetermined and rigid movements of the infusion elements it is not always possible to maintain a perfect closure of the infusion chamber along the circumference of the capsule or pod.
[0009] In the case in which the capsule or pod is contained in a suitable capsule or capsule holder comprising for example a flange which is to engage with the first or the second infusion element to carry out the closure of the infusion chamber, the aforementioned problem could amplify.
[0010] The Applicant has also observed that in known machines the infusion chamber is sized and shaped according to the capsule or wafer to be received.
[0011] In other words, an infusion machine with pods or capsules can work only one type of capsule or pod, expressly the one for which the infusion chamber has been designed.
[0012] In the patent application ITRM 2014 A 00 065 in the name of the same Applicant, the latter had the problem of making a machine for the production of drinks infused with pods or capsules usable with different types of pods and / or capsules providing an adapter for capsules or pods.
[0013] According to the Applicant also in this case the problem of ensuring the closure of the brewing chamber according to a predetermined and fixed level can be critical precisely because the closure of the two infusion elements may not adapt to the different types of capsule or pod adapters.
[0014] Therefore the Applicant has faced the problem of realizing an infusion device or group in particular for machines which provide removable capsule holders or blanks or with caps or pod adapters which allows an adequate closure substantially along the whole circumference of the capsule or of the waffle.
[0015] The Applicant has therefore posed the problem of ensuring the closure of the infusion chamber not according to a fixed and predetermined level as in known machines.
SUMMARY OF THE INVENTION
[0016] Therefore, in a first aspect of the invention the invention relates to an infusion device, in particular for machines for the preparation of an infused beverage by means of a capsule containing an aromatic substance, comprising:a first infusion element;a second infusion element, adapted to cooperate with said first infusion element, said second infusion element comprising a housing seat for a capsule-holder or pod holder; said capsule-holder or pod holder comprising a cavity for at least partial reception of an infusion capsule;said capsule-holder or pod holder being removable in said housing seat;said second infusion element being hinged to said first infusion element along a pivoting axis to rotate with respect to said first infusion element between a closed position in which said second infusion element closes said first infusion element to define, with capsule-holder or pod holder inserted in the seat housing, an infusion chamber and a rotated opening position in which the second infusion element is partially away from the first infusion element by a distance such as to allow the extraction of the capsule-holder or pod holder;said second infusion element being hinged to said first infusion element so that the pivoting axis is free to translate vertically and / or pitch.
[0017] In the context of the present invention "vertical", "vertically" is intended to mean a direction substantially parallel or slightly inclined with respect to the axis of symmetry of the cavity of the capsule-holder or pod-holder.
[0018] "Transverse" "transversely" means a direction substantially perpendicular to the vertical direction.
[0019] Pitching means the oscillation of an element, such as the hinging axis, around a generic axis orthogonal to the transverse and vertical direction.
[0020] The present invention, in the aforementioned aspect, can have at least one of the preferred characteristics which are described below.
[0021] Preferably, the second infusion element comprises a distal portion and a proximal portion; the second infusion element being hinged to the first infusion element at the distal portion such that in the open position the proximal portion is coupled to a corresponding proximal portion of the first infusion element, while in said open position the proximal portion of the second element infuser is angularly offset from the proximal portion of the first infuser element.
[0022] Advantageously, the second infusion element comprises at least one hinging pin with the first infusion element, said hinging pin being slidable in a slot which extends substantially vertically.
[0023] Preferably, the slot has a vertical extension of at least 3 mm.
[0024] Conveniently, there are two pivot pins arranged along the hinging axis, each able to slide in a slot which extends substantially vertically in the first infusion element.
[0025] Advantageously, the device has actuating means adapted to operate the second infusion element in the rotary movement from the open position to the closed position and vice versa.
[0026] Preferably, the actuation means comprise at least one pin element and at least one curvilinear profile.
[0027] Advantageously, the curvilinear profile is realized in a lever which can be operated manually and hinged functionally to the first infusion element in such a way that the rotation of the lever in one direction involves the rotation of the curved profile with respect to the pivot element and the movement of the second infuser element from the open position to the closed position.
[0028] Alternatively, the pivot element is made in a lever which can be operated manually and hinged functionally to the first infusion element in such a way that the rotation of said lever in one direction involves the rotation of said at least one pivot element with respect to said profile curvilinear integral with the second infusion element and consequently the movement of the second infusion element from the said open position to the said closing position.
[0029] Conveniently, the pin element comprises a bearing hinged to the second infuser element.
[0030] Preferably, the actuation lever comprises two curvilinear profiles, each one able to cooperate with a pin element.
[0031] Advantageously, the second infusion element is made in a single piece with two laterally spaced lateral prongs to define the housing seat for the capsule-holder.
[0032] Further characteristics and advantages of the invention will appear more clearly from the detailed description of some preferred but not exclusive embodiments of an infusion device for the production of an infused beverage starting from a capsule or wafer according to the present invention.

DETAILED DESCRIPTION OF EMBODIMENTS OF THE INVENTION
[0034] With reference to figs 1 - 4, an infusion device, in particular for machines for the preparation of an infused beverage by means of a capsule 44 containing an aromatic substance, according to the present invention, is identified with the numerical reference 10.
[0035] The infusion device 10, as shown in the figures, comprises a first infusion element 3 and a second infusion element 5, and a capsule-holder 2 or pod-holder. The second infusion element 5, and the capsule holder 2 or pod holder cooperate with the first infusion element 3 to make the infusion chamber 4.
[0036] The second infusion element 5 has a housing seat for a capsule-holder or pod-holder 2.
[0037] In the embodiment shown in figs 1 - 4 refers to a capsule-holder 2, but what said is applicable to a pod holder or to an adapter such as the one described in the ITRM 2014 A 00 065 patent application in the name of the same Applicant.
[0038] The capsule-holder 2 or pod holder can be removably inserted into a housing seat 40, formed in the second infusion element 5.
[0039] Advantageously, as best shown in fig. 4, the second infusion element 5 is shaped in a single piece with two lateral prongs 44.45 spaced transversely to define the housing seat 40 for the capsule-holder 2.
[0040] The capsule-holder 2 has a cavity 22 for the at least partial reception of an infusion capsule 4 and a handle 23 which allows the user to manually insert or extract the capsule-holder 2 from the appropriate housing seat 40.
[0041] In the embodiment shown in fig. 1, the first infusion element 3 is formed in an upper fixed portion of the frame of the coffee preparation machine, while the second infusion element 5 is arranged below the first infusion element 3 and is movable with respect to the latter.
[0042] In particular, the second infusion element 5 is hinged to the first infusion element along a hinging axis X – X to rotate with respect to the first infusion element 3 between a closed position, shown in fig. 1, in which the second infusion element 5 closes the first infusion element 3 to define, with a capsule-holder 2 or pod holder inserted in the housing seat 40, an infusion chamber and a rotated opening position, shown in fig. 2, in which the second infusion element 5 is partially offset with respect to the first infusion element 3 by a distance such as to allow the extraction or insertion of the capsule-holder 2.
[0043] In the closed position, the second infusion element 5 is approached, together with the capsule-holder, to the first infusion element 3 so as to hermetically close the infusion chamber.
[0044] For this purpose, an annular gasket 44 is arranged between the first infusion element 3 and the second infusion element 5 and in particular between the first infusion element 3 and the capsule-holder 2.
[0045] In the embodiment shown in figs 1-4, the annular gasket 44 is arranged in a circular groove made on the first infusion element 3.
[0046] Alternatively, the gasket 44 could be arranged in a circular groove positioned on the cap cap 2 or on the second infuser 5.
[0047] With reference to the embodiment shown in the figures, the second infusion element 5 comprises a distal portion 13 and a proximal portion 14.
[0048] The proximal portion is represented by the two prongs 44, 45.
[0049] Similarly, the first infusion element 3 comprises a distal portion, able to cooperate with the corresponding distal portion 13 of the second infusion element 5 and a proximal portion adapted to cooperate, in the closed position, with the corresponding proximal portion of the second element infuser 5.
[0050] In other words, the second infusion element 5 is hinged to the first infusion element 3 at the distal portion 13 so that in the closed position, shown in fig. 1, the proximal portion is coupled to a corresponding proximal portion of the first infuser 3, while in the open position, shown in fig. 2, the proximal portion of the second infuser 5 is angularly away from the proximal portion of the first infuser 3.
[0051] According to an important aspect of the present invention, the infusion element 5 is hinged to the first infusion element 3 so that the hinging axis X – X is free to translate substantially vertically and / or pitch.
[0052] According to the Applicant, this allows the second infusion element 5 to close on the first infusion element 3 not according to a fixed and predetermined plane, but according to a plane that is adapted for example to the type of capsule-holder 2 or pod holder, not generating voltages or efforts on the latter.
[0053] The second infusion element 5 comprises at least one hinging pin 17 with the first infusion element 3.
[0054] Preferably, the hinging pin 17 is slidable in a slot 18 which extends substantially vertically.
[0055] In the embodiment shown in the figures, the second infusion element 5 has two pivot pins 17 arranged along the hinging axis X-X, each one able to slide in a slot 18 of the first infusion element 3 which extends substantially vertically.
[0056] Preferably, the slot 18 has a vertical extension of at least 3 mm. Even more preferably, the slot has a vertical extension of at least 4 mm.
[0057] The slot 18 has a vertical extension at most 20 mm, preferably at most 15 mm.
[0058] Although in the description reference has been made to the fact that the hinging pins 17 are made integral with the second infusion element 5 and the relative slots 18 are made integral with the first infusion element 3, it is to be understood that also the opposite arrangement applies to say with the pins 17 integral with the first infusion element 3 and the relative slots 18 integral with the second infusion element 5 is possible without departing from the scope of protection of the present invention.
[0059] The device 10 according to the present invention also has drive means 20 suitable for operating the second infusion element 5 in the rotary movement from the open position to the closed position and vice versa.
[0060] Preferably, the actuation means 20 comprise at least one pin element and at least one curvilinear profile.
[0061] In the embodiment shown in the figures, the curvilinear profile 25, indicated with a dashed line in fig. 1, is realized in a lever 26 which can be operated manually and is hinged functionally to the first infusion element 3 in such a way that the rotation of the lever 26 in one direction involves the sliding of the curved profile 25 with respect to the pivot element 27 and consequently the movement of the second infusion element 5 from the open position, shown in fig. 2, to the closed position, shown in fig. 1
[0062] Alternatively, according to an embodiment not shown in the figure, the pin element is made in a lever which can be operated manually and is hinged functionally to the first infusion element in such a way that the rotation of said lever in one direction involves the rotation of the said at least one pivot element with respect to said curvilinear profile integral with the second infusion element and consequently the movement of the second infusion element from said open position to said closed position.
[0063] Still with reference to the embodiment shown in the figures instead, the actuation lever 26 which is generally U-shaped comprises two curvilinear profiles 25, each one able to cooperate with a pin element 27, arranged in correspondence with two transversely opposite ends of the second infusion element 5. The pivot element 27 comprises a bearing 28 hinged to the second infusion element 5.
[0064] With the lowering of the manual lever 26 each curvilinear profile enters into engagement with the bearing 28 and the further lowering of the lever 26 causes each bearing 28 to slide on the curvilinear profile, determining the movement of the second infuser 5 from the position opening at the closed position.
[0065] For this reason each curvilinear profile 25 is arranged substantially according to an arc of a circle.
[0066] Preferably, the curvilinear profile 25 is arranged so as to present its concavity facing the pivot element 27.
[0067] On the other hand, the lifting of the manual lever 26 involves the sliding of each curvilinear profile 25 with respect to the bearing 28 until it exits the engagement causing the movement of the second infuser 5 from the closed position a to the open position.
[0068] In the embodiment shown in the figures, the manual lever has a vertical extension from its contained hinging point, preferably less than 50 mm, even more preferably less than 40 mm.
[0069] In the embodiment shown in the figures, moreover, the first fixed infusion element 3 has an exchanger 30, in this way unlike traditional machines, the infusion chamber is fed by hot water almost directly, that is without long ducts which lead to heat loss.
[0070] According to this embodiment, the exchanger 30 has a water outlet duct 31 adapted to cooperate with the infusion chamber and in particular with appropriate means for injecting water into the infusion chamber through the first infuser 3 .
[0071] The water injection means 37 inside the brewing chamber can be of different shapes and sizes depending on the type of capsule 4 or pod used or the different infusion technique used.
[0072] In fig. 3 shows a first infusion element 3 with water injection means 37 inside the infusion chamber for capsules for making coffee.
[0073] In detail, according to this embodiment the water injection means 37 inside the infusion chamber are represented by a plurality of needles 21 and by an intake duct, the latter being fluidly connected to the duct of water outlet 31 of the exchanger 30.
[0074] The needles 21 are fluidically connected to an intake duct, which is actually responsible for the introduction of water into the capsule, which for this purpose widens, taking a bell-shaped conformation close to the needles 21.
[0075] The capsules for making coffee have, in fact, need to be drilled in several places on the upper surface to ensure a greater exchange surface between hot water and coffee.
[0076] Various modifications can be made to the embodiments described in detail, while remaining within the scope of protection of the invention, defined by the following claims.
